When Stanley first came to the shelter he was almost completely feral, but this strikingly handsome boy has come a long way. He’s been working hard to overcome his shyness – but don’t let his shy demeanor fool you – once you break the ice he’s a real lover! He’ll sometimes lean his head into whoever’s petting him – he likes back massages too. He hasn’t had a lot of experience interacting with people, and needs a compassionate, patient, yet firm guardian with lots of prior dog experience. (Breed experience is even better.) Stanley’s ridged back and exotic features bring lots of attention as you walk him down the street – everyone wants to know what kind of dog he is!

Thai Ridgebacks are a very intelligent breed and need clear boundaries. Their energy level is typically medium, with most of the day spent lounging, then activity periods occurring in sporadic bursts. Properly socialized, they make loyal, loving family pets. They’re naturally protective of their home and family. They remain independent minded, and much of their original natural instinct and drives remain intact, particularly prey drive. Thai Ridgebacks are definitely not recommended for the novice dog guardian! With an excellent jumping ability they may seek to roam if not properly contained.

At two years old, Stanley has plenty of energy and loves long walks. He’s very curious and has a knack for finding things you thought were hidden! He likes other dogs as long as the excitement level doesn’t become too elevated. A calm, consistent home environment with adults and kids at least thirteen would be best. And – no cats please. A great way for Stanley to bond with his forever family will be training classes – it will be good mental stimulation for him and he’ll become a good canine citizen as well! Do your research, and if you’re a good match, Stanley would love to meet you!

HOW TO ADOPT – Please fill out a Dog Adoption Application and email or fax it to the Seattle Animal Shelter Foster Dog Program. Click the highlighted links to download the form and send us your application.  Our fax number is 206-386-4285.

Alternatively, you may fill out or drop off the application at the Seattle Animal Shelter, located at 2061 15th Ave. W (1 mile south of the Ballard Bridge, at the corner of W. Armory Way). The shelter is open six days a week, Tuesday – Sunday, noon – 6 p.m. and closed on Mondays and holidays.

Important note: Many of our dogs will receive numerous applications, and the Seattle Animal Shelter asks for your patience during the process of finding the very best match. If you have general questions about this dog, you may call the shelter and speak with the Animal Care Staff at 206-386-7387. They are available six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, noon – 6 p.m. However, if you would like to arrange to meet this dog, you must submit an adoption application. Dolly is very Sweet and ready to meet you!

Adopt Roxanne, a sweet Lab mix, in Seattle Washington!

Roxanne is up for Adoption!  Roxanne, a 1 year old Labrador Retriever mix, is ready to run with you! Her lively dark eyes tell you that she has a bounce in her step and is ready to run! Volunteers spend time with Roxanne each day, taking her on walks so that she gets the exercise she needs while waiting for her new home. She would be a great fit for an active family who will include her in their activities and continue with her training and confidence building. Sophie at the Arizona Humane Society

Sophie is up for Adoption!  Lonely Heart Club Member !!!  Adoption Fee is only $35.00.   I am a spayed female, brown brindle Pit Bull Terrier mix.   The shelter thinks I am about 11 months old.   I have been at the shelter since Oct 17, 2009.    At only 42 lbs. this sweet little girl loves to crawl in your lap and give tons of love! It is unsure if she is potty trained but does seem to walk very well on a leash and does know the command Sit.  She is a bit shy and cautious so please go slow with her and give her time to adjust to her new environment.   She has a very warm and softer personality and will do great in a loving home. She does not seem to do very well with small dogs so a dog intro is required. It is also recommended for any children at home to meet Sophie prior to adoption because she is so shy.  Bring in the whole family today and see if Sophie is the next family member you have been searching for!
