Adopt Buca in Methuen, MA!

Buca

Buca is a playful, energy filled dog!

Buca is up for Adoption!  Buca is a sweet shy one year old boy.  He ended up here at the shelter after an unfortunate divorce in his family.  He really doesn’t like the shelter life and being on display.  He rather enjoyed being part of a family and relaxing in his home feeling safe and loved.  He is very reserved in his kennel, sizing up all that pass and deciding whether you have what it takes to be his best bud.  He’s looking for someone who pays attention to small details, to be more specific – signs that he is ready to play, wrestle, cuddle or for you to be his protector.

Buca in many ways can be a frightened puppy in new situations and with new people.  His best bud will intuitively know when he feels uncomfortable in any situation and either remove him from it or help him to build his confidence by introducing him to things and people with positive reinforcement and ever so slowly.  Buca is a lot of fun.  This boy loves to play catch with a tennis ball or any stuffed animal you toss.  He runs like a gazelle , bounding across the yard leaping in the air.  This handsome young boy loves to play with other dogs and would most likely be OK with a cat or dog in his new home.Older more experienced teens would be best living and playing with Buca.  When Buca decides to take a chance and open his heart to love again, the bond will be forever.  He’s an all or nothing kind of guy.  If you would like to see more photos of Buca at play click HERE.

Colt is up for Adoption!  Colt is an 11 month old boy.  In the shelter he is very shy when you come to put his leash on and then once out of the kennel and shelter he is a different dog. Very friendly and loving, he might even try to jump in your lap.  Colt is very thin and loves treats, so when you come to visit and want to make a friend fast — bring a few dog bones.  Colt is not house trained and will need a refresher course, or starting over from square one. In his new home he would probably be OK with a cat , possibly another calm dog and teens or older would be best.   Border Collie Dog Temperament The Border Collie is a bundle of mental and physical energy awaiting its chance to be unleashed on the world.

Among the most intelligent and obedient of breeds.  Given sufficient exercise, he is a dependable and loyal companion.  He is intent on whatever he does and tends to stare, which can be unnerving to other animals.  He also likes to chase other animals.  He is reserved, even protective, toward strangers.  Border Collie Dog Care — Few dogs are as work-oriented as the Border Collie.  This is a dog that needs a job.  He needs a lot of physical and mental activity every day to satisfy his quest for work.  He enjoys being with his family. His coat needs brushing or combing twice weekly.

Genevieve is up for Adoption!  Hi there, I’m Genevieve, aren’t I as pretty as my name?  I am a 5 year old spayed female pit bull mix. There were allergies in my home, so I had to come here to find a new home.  This is my second time here and I am really hoping that this time I can find my true forever home!  I am a love — rub my tummy and I will be your friend for life!  I enjoy going for walks.  I get a little excited when I play, so older kids only for me please.  Come on in and take me for a walk – you’ll fall in love, I know it!

A Note on Pit Bulls: These lovely dogs are too often given a bad reputation.  The reputation is due to mistreatment by people.  Our dog, Tucket, is a Pitbull-Akita-Chow mix.  Three very strong breeds.  He is one of the smartest and loving animals I have met.  See more about him in the About Us section.  For a very nice write up about Pit Bulls see the following article by the Alliance for Animals in Boston:  Pit Bulls Under Fire.
