Come meet Socrates at the BARC Shelter!
Socrates is a low maintenance dog. He was brought to a groomer by his family and after grooming, they did not pick him up. The groomer discovered that the phone number and address they had was false. They were located near a famous Italian bakery (Fortunato’s), animal lovers and good friends of the BARC Shelter. They called us and we took in gentle little Socrates, sweeter than the blueberry cheesecake that accompanied him. He spends his time on the laps of volunteers, but he does enjoy going out for short walks. When he is out, he has a pep in his step that is adorable and he gets along fine with other dogs and cats, but you have to be careful that they don’t jump on him. At his late age, Socrates is developing moles on his body, but they are not cancerous, so we are praying that we can find him a quiet home where he can live his final years in safety and with a loving family.

at the city shelter over 3 years ago and after being adopted and cared for, was abandoned with us. He came to us sick and confused, which told us he didn’t receive very good care. He is scared and protective of strangers and should not be in a home with kids. But once he gets to know you, Toby would make a wonderful lap dog. As a senior dog, Toby doesn’t require much maintenance and really just wants a nice warm home with some peace and quiet after a sad and difficult life. Adopt this great dog today!
